About QR Codes

A QR (Quick Response) code is a two-dimensional barcode that can store URLs, text, contact details, Wi-Fi credentials, and more — readable instantly by any modern phone camera. They're used everywhere from restaurant menus and business cards to product packaging and event tickets, because they remove the friction of typing out a long link.

Choosing an error correction level

QR codes include built-in redundancy so they still scan even if partially damaged, dirty, or obscured (for example, by a logo placed in the middle). Higher error correction means the code can tolerate more damage, but produces a visually denser pattern:

Low — tolerates about 7% damage. Use for clean digital displays.
Medium — tolerates about 15% damage. Good default for most uses.
Quartile — tolerates about 25% damage. Good for print materials that may get worn.
High — tolerates about 30% damage. Best if you plan to place a logo over the center.

Tips for reliable scanning

Keep strong contrast between foreground and background colors — avoid similar shades.
Don't shrink a printed QR code below about 2cm × 2cm, or distant scanning may fail.
Always test your QR code with a real phone camera before printing it at scale.
Keep a quiet margin (blank space) around the code — most generators, including this one, include it automatically.
